About Your Personal Trainers
Neal Garner
Neal Garner has been training men and women, boys and girls of all ages and backgrounds for over 20 years, and is currently certified with ACSM. As a young man growing up in Temple, Georgia, Neal was an amateur body builder, as well as a competitive bench presser. He has always enjoyed working out ever since he can remember, and when it was time, he began his life’s dream… helping other’s achieve the bodies THEY wanted through weight training. At a young 40 years old, and still a dedicated lifter at a small (yeah right!) 270 pounds, it’s tough to match Neal’s size and strength, but you wouldn’t even know he was that huge by talking to him… it just helps when he’s spotting your every set. As a person, he’s a very humble and caring “big man” that only wants what’s best for his clients.
Over time Neal has developed a unique way of training everyone that he gets his hands on. He’s helped a 15 year old girl who had dreams of making the high school golf team and going on to play in the LPGA, to a 70 year old retired lawyer looking for another challenge and more fulfilling lifestyle. Publicly, Neal has had a lot of success in training many professional and amateur athletes’ at all competitive levels. All the knowledge that he’s studied, observed and absorbed over the years has showed, and continues to show, by the special people he turns out and continues to train. Working out with Trainer Neal will be one of the best decisions you could make. Feeling stronger, healthier, and more confident, makes each client a better person at the end of the day… and makes them keep coming back for more! It’s addictive to say the least.
Pounding iron and making people sweat is just a small part of what Old School Gym is about. IT IS PERSONAL TRAINING TO THE EXTREME. Trainer Neal won’t stop until you achieve all of your personal goals with your level of perceived fitness. To tell you the truth, after that, he still won’t want you to quit! He wants you in there every day! He loves it that much! Neal prides himself on getting the best out of each individual that walks through the door. You won’t see him just collecting your payment, or sitting there watching TV, eating a sandwich, and yelling from across the room what to do next. He gets in the trenches with you and, on occasion, will get his workout in at the same time with you. In a nutshell, Trainer Neal takes on each of his clients as a friend, and he stands over you every step of the way to achieve your…
TOTAL BODY STRENGTH AND FITNESS!
Reneé Garner
Reneé Garner is the beautiful wife of our head trainer. Like Neal, Reneé enjoys training all age groups and body types. Her fitness industry experience covers the last 15 years, and at this moment she is certified with ACSM. However, Reneé’s constant desire to improve has her working on other certification as we speak. She’s always interested to learn the new and revolutionary ways of training to get the best information to her clients.
Over the last 10 plus years of personal training, she has accumulated many success stories and high marks. Before she began personal training, Reneé was a fierce competitor on the fitness circuit. One such top accomplishment came when she won the Tri-State Championships. This top finish, in turn, qualified her into national level competitions where she learned some valuable lessons in becoming the best she could be. It shaped her into the person and personal trainer she is today, and the way she wants to help people learn how to achieve their personal goal also.
In most recent years, she has dedicated her time to educating clients through practical applications on many facets of health and fitness. Reneé’s worked with the girl’s basketball team at Marist, and as a private cheerleading coach. Reneé really enjoys specializing herself in the weight reduction aspect training. She not only trains individuals trying to lose 5-10 pounds, but she enjoys working with severely obese clients that are looking for a better way of living. Reneé is currently the acting exercise consultant for Emory’s Atlanta Bariatric Center of Excellence, where she’s been working for 5 years with pre and post operation patients for five of the doctors at the center. At the facility, she works under the guidance of one of the top surgeons in Georgia, Dr. Champion. Reneé is also a consistent guest speaker for Emory ABC and Northside Hospital, where she speaks on numerous exercise topics.
Her skills continued to show when she coordinated a Health Fair in April of 2004 at Emory’s Medical Center. She had large vendors such as Discount Nutrition and Physicians Choice in attendance. Reneé also has published work in multiple Emory newsletters. The Summer 2005 edition article on “How to Start an Exercise Program”, and the Spring 2006 edition on “How to Jump Start Summer” were tremendous hits with readers. As you can tell, Reneé is a very accomplished person and personal trainer. Like you would expect to get out of a quality trainer, she gets the most out of each client’s potential and really enjoys what she does. Her knowledge and expertise is rare among women in her field. Every client she has gets an opportunity to take advantage of this. Reneé won’t stop until each individual she trains achieves total body fitness.
